Havalandırma kanalı konusunda söylenebilinecek en genel şey içerideki pis ve kullanılmayacak durumda olan havanın dışarı atılarak, dışarıdaki temiz havanın içeri verilmesi anlamına geldiğidir. Mekanın m2 sayısı büyüdükçe kullanılan tüm malzemelerin niteliği ve ayrıntısı da artmaktadır.
Bakterileri ve zararlı akla gelebilecek hemen hemen bütün mikro organizmaların ortamdaki sayısını düşürebilen bu tip kanallar aynı zamanda zehirli gaz ve tozları da kullanım alanından uzaklaştırmak amaçlı kullanılmaktadır. Genellikle insan ve makine kaynaklı oluşan fazla nemi de dışarıya atarak olası birçok sağlık tehdidini engellemek için kullanılırlar. İhtiyaç duyulan oksijen miktarının ortamdaki insan sayısınca arttığı ve kalabalık oluştukça da oksijenin azalacağı baz alındığında havalandırma kanalı kullanımı gayet doğal ve hatta gereklidir diyebiliyoruz.
Genellikle paslanmaz, galvaniz ve alüminyum levhalar eşliğinde imal edilen bu ürünler, yüksek mukavemetli sızdırmazlık içerirler. Flanş dediğimiz yardımcı ürünler ve köşe parçaları ile birlikte üretilmeleri de zorunludur. Yapım yerlerine gelince plazma tezgahlarında fireyi sıfıra yakın tutmak koşulu ile üretilirler. Ayrıca fittings dediğimiz yardımcı elemanları da, otomatik kilit makinelerinde kapatılır. Küçük bir ayrıntı olarak ise flanş bağlantılarının panç makinesinde yapılıp, üretimden hemen sonra mastik silikon ile sızdırmazlık sağlandığını söylemek yanlış olmayacaktır.

Alüminyum Hava Kanalı Nedir?
Genellikle düşük ve orta basınç sınıfı ısıtma, soğutma ve havalandırma, biraz daha derine inecek olursak atık gazlar için özel olarak tasarlanmış olan alüminyum hava kanalları, çelik teller ile üretilmektedir. Olabilecek son raddede esnemeye, sıkıştırılmaya ve bükülmeye müsait yapıdadırlar. Bu kanalları avantajlı yapan şey ise, köşeleri birleştirme yerlerinin montajının kolaylıkla yapılabilmesidir. Kalite belgesi olarak UL 181’i baz alırlar ve fiziksel olarak çok dayanıklıdırlar. Ekstra bir özellik olarak gerek duyulursa izolasyon kaplamalı şekilde üretime açıktırlar.
Duman gibi birçok zehirli gaza karşı dayanıklı olan alüminyum hava kanalı, ısı ve ses yalıtımlıdırlar. Mevsimsel gelebilecek rüzgara karşı da çok iyi tepki verebilirler ve soğuk kış aylarında ciddi bir kar yükünü omuzlayabilirler. Bu özellikleriyle de müteahhitlerin, mimarların ve mühendislerin dikkatini üzerlerinde toplarlar. Mekan içi dolaşımdaki havanın muhafazası için kullanılan hava perdeleri ile de kışın soğuğun, yazın sıcağın ayrıca da tozun, nemin ve böceklerin dahi içeri girmesini engellerler. Yaygın olarak rutubetli alanlara uygulanırlar. Yeter miktarda yağmur kanalına sahip oldukları durumlarda da verimli bir yağmur suyu drenajını sağladıkları bilinir.
